چکیده

The sergestid shrimp, Sergia lucens is one of the major marine resources in the waters off southwestern Taiwan. The maximum sustainable yield (MSY), total allowable catch (TAC) and fishing effort at MSY (EMSY) of the sergestid shrimp in this area were estimated to be 1008 tons, 907 tons and 11292 vessel-day, respectively by using the surplus production model with deterministic observation-error estimator approach based on a catch and effort series from 1997-2008. Furthermore, the mean MSY, TAC, and EMSY with 95% CI were estimated to be 1011 (842-1243) tons, 910 (758-1119) tons, and 11296 (1075811807) vessel-day, respectively from the stochastic models. The estimated biomass showed a slightly decreasing trend during the period of 1997-2008 suggesting that the TAC should be included in current management measure to ensure a longterm sustainable utilization of this stock in spite of no overfishig and overfished occurrence.

Investigation of Sardinella Sindensis (Day, 1878) Stock Status Using the Catch-Maximum Sustainable Yield Model in the Southern Waters of Iran (Persian Gulf and Oman Sea)

Among the various species of small pelagic fish, Sardinella sindensis (Day ,1878) has high economic and ecological importance and is one of the most important species exploited by fishermen. In recent years, the catch rate of this species has increased, and due to the limited data available on its stock in southern waters, it is not possible to use models based on the complementary data to asse...

Population dynamics of the shrimp Penaeus semisulcatus in the Yemeni Red Sea waters

Length-based analyses were conducted to assess the stock of the green tiger shrimp Penaeus semisulcatus. Monthly carapace length frequency data were collected from commercial catches at two main landing sites on the Yemeni Red Sea coast for eight months. Growth parameters, mortalities, exploitation rate and yield per recruit were estimated for this species in this area. The estimated growth par...

Growth, Mortality and Stock Abundance of Venerid Bivalve, Paphia cor from Iranian Coastal Waters of Bushehr, Persian Gulf

In this study, population dynamics of venerid bivalve Paphia cor was investigated for a one-year period (2008-2009) in Bushehr shoreline areas (50˚ 40´ E- 29˚ 14´N) to estimate the stock abundance, growth parameters and natural mortality. Sampling was carried out bi-monthly by transects at random direction and zigzag pattern with duplicated quadrate (0.25 m2). The length frequency was ...
